~ 2 1/2 cups white lily self rising flour

~ 1/2 cup shortening

~ 1 cup butter milk

Sausage Gravy

~ 1/2 pound sausage of your choice

~ 1/2 stick of butter

~ 1/2 cup flour

~ 4 to 5 cups whole milk

~ 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

~ salt to taste

Instructions:

Biscuits

1. Preheat oven to 450

2. In a medium bowl pour flour in, then cut your shortening in to the flour, stir in milk just until combined. If need be add a splash more of milk to make sure you got all the dry flour mixed in. Don't over mix!.

3. Turn out dough on a floured surface fold about 5 times until it comes together. Roll out to about an inch, cut out your biscuits, recombine dough and cut out biscuits until doughs all gone.

4. Put on greased iron skillet or sheet pan. Bake until golden brown about 12 to 15 mins. Brush with butter when they come out of the oven.

Sausage Gravy

1. On medium heat in deep iron skillet or pan brown the sausage. When it's all brown add in butter let melt. Stir in flour, let the flour cook for about 45 seconds. Stir in milk slowly.

2. Continue to stir until it just starts to bubble then turn it down to low and let cook for 30 second or so then turn it off and you're ready to serve over your biscuits, enjoy!.

Note: If it gets too thick add in more milk, just remember you can add but you can't take away so don't get it too thin.
