Ingredients:

~ 2 lbs of fresh green beans or 3 cans

~ 2 large potatoes

~ 1 ham bone or ham hocks

~ 1 cup or so of ham chunks

~ 4 cups chicken broth

~ 1 white onion

~ 2 teaspoon garlic powder

~ 1 teaspoon onion powder

~ 1 teaspoon Dano's (optional)

~ 2 tablespoons of bacon grease

~ salt and pepper to taste

Instructions:

1. Cut both ends off of fresh green beans and cut in to 2 inch lengths. (For canned green beans just drain them) Dice up onion. Peel and cube potatoes in to 2 inch squares.

2.In a 6 quart heavy pan with lid or dutch oven over medium/high heat, add in bacon grease and onion and sauté until they start to get a bit translucent. Add in green beans and sauté for a few mins until they start to get a bit of color on them.

3. Pour in your chicken broth and add in your ham bone or hocks. Add in garlic powder, onion powder, Dano's, salt and pepper.

4. Let simmer for at least an hour I usually let them go for 2, if they get low on liquid add in some more chicken broth or water.

5. When they have finished cooking remove ham bone and pull off the meat from the ham bone and put it back in to the pot. Add in ham chunks make sure they come to heat then enjoy!
