Ingredients:
~ 1 1/2 pounds of brussel sprouts
~ 1/2 pound bacon
~ half of an onion
~ 1 1/2 teaspoons garlic powder
~ 1 teaspoon salt
~ 1 teaspoon pepper
Instructions:
This can be done on the stove or in the oven
Stove Top
1. Wash and cut off bottom end of brussel sprouts then cut in to 4's. Mince onion. Cut bacon in to 1/2 inch pieces.
2. In large cast iron skillet over medium/high heat cook bacon to desired doneness, I like mine a bit chewy/wobbly. When bacon is done remove it and drain on paper towel, set aside.
3. In same skillet with bacon grease still in it, add in brussel sprouts and onion. Season with garlic powder, salt and pepper. Cook while periodically stirring until the brussels sprouts are tender. Add bacon back in and enjoy!
Oven
1. Preheat oven to 400. To a sheet pan add bacon in thin single layer, cook for 20 mins but watch it it burns quick. Wash and cut off bottom end of brussel sprouts then cut in to 4's. Mince onion.
2. When bacon is done using tongs to pull it off the sheet pan and drain it on paper towels and set it aside.
3. If there is more than 3 tablespoons of bacon grease in the sheet pan pour some off. Add brussel sprouts and onions to the pan. Season with garlic, salt and pepper. Stir well and periodically through cook time. Let them cook in oven until tender about 15 to 20 mins. Chop bacon in to 1/2 inch pieces add back in and enjoy!
