Ingredients:
~ 2 28oz cans of baked beans (we use Bush's)
~ 1/2 pound bacon
~ 1 pound of ground beef
~ 1 onion
~ 1 bell pepper or 3 jalapeño
~ 3 to 5 cloves of garlic
~ 1/4 brown sugar
~ 1/3 cup bbq sauce (we use Sweet Baby Rays)
~ 1/4 cup French's Honey Mustard
~ 1 teaspoon pepper
~ 1/2 teaspoon salt
~ 1 teaspoon garlic powder
~ 2 teaspoons chili powder
Instructions:
1. Preheat oven to 350. Dice onion and pepper, mince garlic. In large skillet preferably cast iron over medium low heat, fry bacon until you get desired crisp. Remove bacon, drain and cool on paper towel lined plate set aside. Drain bacon grease leaving 2 tablespoons. Add in peppers, onions, garlic and ground beef, cook through then turn off heat.
2. Chop up cooled bacon. To the cooked ground beef add in beans, chopped bacon, brown sugar, bbq sauce, mustard, pepper, salt, garlic powder and chili powder. Stir together and if you used a cast iron pan go again and place it in the oven to bake for 30 to 40 mins, just until it gets thick and bubbly. If you didn't use an oven safe skillet pour everything in to a 13x9 casserole dish and bake as directed. We hope you enjoy this recipe!
(note) Also great cooked over the fire or on a smoker!
